What is personal data?
Personal data as defined under the German Data Protection Act (BDSG) is information about the personal or material circumstances of a specific or specifiable natural person. In addition to name, address, date of birth, occupation and bank details, this may include particularly sensitive data, such as income or creditworthiness. All such data is subject to special protection under the BDSG, with which we comply by way of technical and organisational procedures.
Collection of personal data
We do not require any data from you if you are entering the public section of our website. In accordance with the BDSG, you are guaranteed complete anonymity when navigating this section. For example, you can use our space search function anonymously and leave our website at any time. We save the details of each instance of access in a log file. The following data is collected by us and stored until it is automatically deleted: the IP address of the computer used, the date and time of access, the pages visited and the website from which you visited us. This data is collected and processed for the following purposes: to guarantee the long-term security and stability of our system, to optimise our Internet services and to create and evaluate internal statistics. We do not generate or process any personal surfing profiles.
Please note that if you make use of one of our many different services, e.g. the intranet, you will leave the public section of our website and enter the secure area of a closed user group. Use of this area requires your express voluntary consent to the collection, use and processing of your personal data, insofar as this serves the purpose of your contractual or trust-based relationship. The data entered will be transmitted from your PC in encrypted form in accordance with the latest technical standard (TLS) in order to protect it from misuse by third parties.
Web analysis tools
We use the services of Webtrekk GmbH to gather statistical data on the use of our website and to optimise our range of services. Webtrekk GmbH is certified by TÜV Saarland for data protection in the context of web analytics software. An audit at Webtrekk in Berlin and at the hosting location is included in the certification process. In the course of the audit, the collection and processing of tracking data is checked for compliance with data privacy laws and data security.
This certification was based on:

- statutory requirements concerning data privacy,
- the latest IT security principles according to the baseline IT protection methodology defined by the German Federal Office for Information Security and ISO 27000,
- test report TR00969.
During your visit to our website, your browser transmits information which is collected and analysed for the purpose of web analytics. The data is collected using a pixel method which is built into all the pages of our website. The following data is collected:

Facebook social plugins
Our website uses social plugins (“plugins”) provided by the social networking site facebook.com, operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”). The plugins are identified by a Facebook logo or the words “Facebook social plugin”.

Use of personal data
Data sent to us via a contact form will be forwarded to the Union Investment Group company responsible for handling the data, where it will be processed and used.
Union Investment will use this data solely to process and respond to your enquiry or to fulfil your information request and provide you with the relevant information. The information you require may be sent out by an external mailing house, which is obligated to treat all data as confidential. Your data will not be disclosed to third parties.
Data you provide for the use of the sample portfolio will be used solely for your sample portfolio and not passed to third parties. You can amend or delete your data at any time via the Internet.
Your personal data is stored on highly secure computers. The reading and processing of your data is subject to strict internal regulations and is carried out solely for the purpose for which you have entrusted the data to us. We do not sell or rent personal data to third parties.
We only use such data to support our comprehensive customer service if you have granted permission for us to do so in the application to open a securities account. In accordance with the information on data sharing in the application, we will only pass on personal data for the purposes of advising customers and for customer care, as well as providing additional information on other financial services. Your data will only be transmitted to recipients named in the declaration of consent in the application to open a securities account.
Data is only transmitted to government authorities where this is required by mandatory statutory provisions.
Security of personal data
The personal data that you, as a member of the closed user group, share with us through your consent to its collection, processing and use is transmitted in encrypted form via the Internet to our computer system, where it is stored and secured (exception: data transmission by e-mail). The security procedure used is in line with state-of-the-art technology. We require all the relevant personnel within our organisation to protect personal data in accordance with section 5 of the BDSG (German Data Protection Act) and access to data is protected by a special authorisation procedure. Union Investment has put technical and organisational security measures in place to protect the data from accidental or deliberate manipulation, loss, deletion, or unauthorised access. We are continuously improving our security measures as technology develops.
Access and correction rights with regard to stored personal data
Under section 34 of the BDSG, you can request access to your data stored by us and you also have the right under section 35 of the BDSG to delete or block unauthorised data and to correct inaccurate data.
